Michael Goppert

Howdy 👋

I'm studying Computer Science, Math, and Japanese at UT Austin, and I'm largely interested systems programming. More specifically, I have scattered interests in all of the following (non-exhaustive):

• instructions executed by the CPU in EL1/2,
• the arm64(e) architecture,
• mechanisms for correct concurrency, and
• compilers and linkers

Experience

This past summer (2026), I interned at Apple on Platform Kernel in Core Operating Systems, where I primarily worked on an internal arm64 emulator to detect CPU mis-executions. I also contributed to the kernel and surrounding firmwares in Darwin.

Before that, I was a TA for Dr. Gheith's CS 439(H): Operating Systems at UT Austin (spring, fall 2025).

Upcoming Plans

For roughly the next semester, (September-February) I'll be studying abroad in Kyoto, Japan.

Code

I prefer self-hosting my development infrastructure, and a side-effect is that I no longer publish (most) of my code.
